Rinloh is an energetic young harpy. Actually ‘energetic’ isn’t quite the right word. Imagine a ball of lightning, drenched in jet fuel, topped with a triple espresso. That would be Rinloh on a slow day. She is the smallest of the full-fledged harpies of the Tionora Flock at a mere ten meters tall, a fact that irritates her to no end. With the exception of gold and green wingtip accents, her plumage could be called nondescript – shades of tan and beige, while her hair is both short, and ordinary in color: a pale shade of green. Those fortunate enough to get to know her will, however, quickly see how unique she is. She has an unusually strong sense of integrity, even for a harpy, possibly triggered by an admonishment she received from her human friend Darin when she broke a promise, and tried to eat him as they first met. Since then she takes giving–and keeping–promises as a very serious matter.
While all harpies take pride in their flying ability, her enthusiasm for flight borders on obsessive. She delights in both the thrill of being airborne and in any new techniques she can learn to help her improve. While presently lacking the absolute speed in level flight of larger harpies, her agility is unmatched. At least in the air. On the ground, the combination of size, sharp talons, and less-than-graceful gait has led to a few… incidents.
Much like her enthusiasm for flying, her love of the hunt is unrivaled. She thrills in the challenge of the sport, frequently causing chaos while doing so. However, she seems to draw the line at consuming sentient beings. Her first hunt, with the human Darin being her intended target, ended in failure. After a rough start, the two became friends, and she hasn’t tried to eat a sentient being since then. Possibly to avoid hurting Darin’s feelings, but deep down it may be something else. Whatever the reason, when confronted with this by another member of her flock, she simply responds that “Too much protein in your diet can make you heavy and lethargic like you old cows.”
Her most prized, and in fact, only possession is a choker that Darin made for her, with engraved green ornamentation matching her eye color. The fact that Darin uses this to hold onto her when the two of them fly together doesn’t bother her in the slightest. After all, having an extra set of eyes, even those as poor as a human’s, is a great asset.
Although intense in her own right, when one of her friends–especially Darin–is in danger, she becomes truly frightening. She loses all concept of her modest size and won’t hesitate to challenge a creature significantly larger than herself, whether it be with sharp words or her razor sharp talons.
