Arvia: a world infused with magic, brimming with life, rife with danger. The world’s name comes from Ardens Vita ab Intus: the fiery life from within, in the old tongue. A mysterious energy at the center of the world, a force existing together with a molten core of magma has shaped the geography, the life, and even the history of the world. Known as magic by sentient races, but whose nature is understood by few, this force is key to life, death, and all that lies between. 

For the human-sized denizens of the world, said magic energy carries rather unique benefits… as well as grave risks. Though few are able to master the arcane arts, with a bit of study and the aid of certain gems and minerals, many minor feats of magic may be performed by even the dilettante. Furthermore, ground water, whether from a natural spring or a constructed well, also carries magic energy with it. Consumption of said water can speed healing and improve overall health. Regrettably, the magic properties of said waters dissipate rapidly after being brought to the surface.

On the flip side, human-sized creatures are not the only ones to benefit from the world’s magic energy: flora and fauna on Arvia grow larger and stronger, with many species reaching truly giant sizes. And while not all said creatures are aggressive by nature, adventurers keen to survive the wilds learn to treat the flora and fauna with a great deal of respect.
